I just finished a memoir entitled Candy Girl yesterday at work. It was written by Diablo Cody. Candy Girl is about a young woman who is finding a need to embrace her wild side just a bit before she becomes a full fledge adult working woman with responsibilities. She decided to do this by going to an amateur night at a local strip club. What was suppose to be one night of wacky fun winds up turning into an obsession that she learns to embrace. It follows how this unlikely girl goes from a copy typist to stripper. it follows her year long stint behind the scenes of the sex industry in stripping
I found it to be refreshingly funny, and rather interesting. It was facsinating to get a behind-the-scenes look at what happens behind the doors at the strip clubs, as well as what life is like for them. It was also interesting to see how supportive her boyfriend was throughout the entire thing.
