Deep as the Storm

Listening to the falling rain
Pattering against the window pane
I think of you.

The raindrops rolling down the glass
Are like the tears falling down my face
When I think of you leaving.

The thunder roaring through the sky
Is my heart crying out in agony.
I love you so much.

The lightning streaking through the clouds
Is the electric shock of our last touch.
I wish you didn’t have to go.

As the dark clouds roll away
And the light illuminates the grey
I realize you must leave.
But here I shall linger
Like the rainbow after the storm
And wait for your return.
